Before Zac (Rae) and I played in Death Cab for Cutie together, we collaborated in the studio on a few sessions, either in the same room or working remotely. It’s where we realized how much we had in common with shared tastes in music and studio equipment. We love the studio life and the creativity and freedom it allows. With Old Sea Brigade’s “Monochrome”, we easily found resonance with the song and made time for it between tours. Ben Cramer (Old Sea Brigade) allowed for whatever vision we had to come to life, and working remotely in our own studios, with Zac doing the heavy lifting and arranging, we delivered what I feel is a really compelling version of an already great song.
